Shannon Brown has been teaching swimming lessons and water fitness classes for over 25 years. She has been the Aquatics Director for TAC for 15 of those years. Shannon Grew up in Corvallis and is an OSU graduate. She enjoys snow skiing, camping, gardening, photography, and of course anything to do with the water.

Raised in Albany, Oregon. Attended OSU and Humboldt State in Northern California then returned to the valley to begin his career. The dream of owning an athletic club started in 1973 after owning and operating a small exercise facility in downtown Corvallis, and came to fruition with the opening of Timberhill Athletic Club in 1980. Married, and has three grown children.

Mike has been in the health and fitness field for more than 35 years.
Mike was the original fitness director for TAC, and helped create the model for adult fitness programming that we have today. He also managed the HP corvallis health promotion program for TAC for 14 years. TAC's health promotion program model received acclaimed nationally as one of the best in worksite wellness. Today, with local colleagues and professional collaborations, Mike is helping area worksites, churches, and the community with creative, innovative thinking in helping employees, seniors, and the community achieve health.

Group Exercise

Dee Gillen

Dee Gillen is the new Group Exercise Director for Timberhill Athletic Club. She has worked as a Club Manager, Group Exercise Director, Personal Trainer, Group Exercise Instructor, and Educator for 13 years at Superior Athletic Club in Medford. Dee has a Bachelor’s of Science in Exercise Science and a Master’s of Science in Exercise Physiology from the University of Oregon. She is an American College of Sports Medicine Certified Health Fitness Specialist and American College of Sports Medicine/American Cancer Society Cancer Exercise Trainer, with additional certifications through Body Training Systems, Reebok, Zumba, Kinesis, EFi Gravity and Freemotion. Dee also has worked as a Corporate Wellness Consultant, Physical Therapy/Occupational Therapy aide as well as research assistant on balance and developmental studies and has assisted with orthopedic, bariatric, and cancer programs in the Rogue Valley.

Jen Humphreys is an ACE certified Group Exercise Instructor and has been teaching classes for 10+ years. She loves being involved in Group Fitness because of the social connections and exercise commitment that it encourages. She has a husband and two boys that are very involved in sports. If she isn’t at TAC, you will likely find her on a local ball field in town!

A recent transplant from Austin, Texas, Leela's background in dance, meditation, and massage therapy add a holistic twist to her health education focused nursing. A student of the Nia Technique for over 15 years, she has been teaching Nia for 10 years. When not teaching body/mind fitness classes, she participates in community building and sustainable living at Coho Ecovillage with her husband, Austin. Leela teaches Nia, Fit for Life, yoga, and has taught Zumba.

He is excellent with athletic performance and plyometrics and event training for marathons, mountain climbing, triathlons, and cycling. He offers an annual ski conditioning class in the fall. Steve enjoys skiing, biking, backpacking, golf, raising his two kids, and Starbucks.

B.S.Public Health, Aquatic Exercise Certified Originally from Chicago, Karen has lived in Corvallis since 1997 and has worked for TAC since 1999. Age group swim team filled much of her childhood and lead to a year of collegiate swimming for University of Wisconsin at LaCrosse. Other interests include road biking, hiking, big dinners with family and friends, Cubs baseball, and watching her daughter play soccer. Teaching water exercise and swim lessons are a deep passion and interacting with members within the groups or as individuals is extremely fulfilling. A strong focus outside of the pool on nutrition, healthy behaviors, and disease prevention are promoted on the TAC website, Blog and Facebook page.

She specializes in low back rehab, core stabilization and flexibility programs. Shandra loves working with people of all ages and abilities. She offers both land and aquatics-based personal training and has helped people of all ages and abilities live the life they desire. Cindy specializes in balance and gait training, exercise for seniors, pain management techniques, rehabilitative exercise, functional strength training, core training, osteoporosis risk reduction, stress management, and breathing techniques. With a lifelong passion for fitness, she believes exercise should be fun! Her background includes years of playing competitive sports including NCAA collegiate soccer and softball. Cindy is married and has two children.
